Trackers(Monday)

Today, one of my sisters went with me to the tryout day of the new session of Trackers. Trackers is a nature class for homeschoolers(Click here for one fun day), and it is by far my favorite class. On the tryout day, we made traps and used a south american way of finding your way in the jungle, called a songline. There were three types of traps. Two used a fallen log or rock held up by notched sticks in a certian arrangment, and the other one was a snare, using two notched sticks, one driven into the ground and the other holding down the bent-over sapling with the noose on the end, by using the notches to attach to the one in the ground.
The songline was used by memorizing landmarks, giving them names and making a story up out of them to remember your way.
